A three-day symposium on "Behaviour of Arsenic in Aquifers, Soils, and Plants: Implications of Management" began in the city yesterday with a call for creating better understanding about the severity of harmful arsenic impact on human body among the people.

Speakers in the symposium stressed the need for more research on arsenic contamination of water, soil and crop.

The Conference aims to provide a forum and platform for 500 persons from various sectors, like medical doctors, academy from faculties of Biology, Pharmacy and Medicine, pharmacists and business sectors from medical industry s well as government health agencies. Common areas of interests, issues and concerns advances in research as well as possible areas of cooperation and possible policies regarding standardization of herbal preparations and utilization of herbal and other traditional medical practices as alternative medical care for cancer would also be discussed.
